With winter’s grasp loosening on the Midwest, it’s time to start thinking ahead to summer! The Kettle Moraine Press Association is excited to again host a camp this summer featuring media and journalism workshops around the theme Power of the Press. Register Here!
This year’s camp will run Sunday, July 26 – Wednesday, July 29 at UW-Whitewater with some special programming additions. Instructor Micheal Betker will feature an afternoon with his Myth-OS AI software, which is a tool to look internally at the user to find external answers for more relevant content production. Dr. Chuck Kaminski will lead a session about his Open Book Project, which focuses on harnessing the power of community in storytelling through framing of content. These sessions will help your students spark creativity and find meaning in their work for both themselves and their audiences. And of course it wouldn’t be a journalism camp without sessions on writing, photography, leadership and sports, which will round out a terrific four-days of fun and education.
Campers will stay in the new Ma’iingan tower residence hall this year with breakfast and lunch buffets, catered dinners and nightly activities. Top performers in each workshop session will win awards at the end of camp featured in the annual KEMPA Cup presentation. Students will also take home digital deliverables that feature their work. What great resume builders! Scholarships are available for students with financial need, plus daily commuters get a discount. Please reach out to camp director Dr. Keith Zukas at [email protected] with any questions, and be sure to share this terrific opportunity with your students and colleagues!
