I hope your spring term is going well as we all look ahead to the coming summer!

I’d like to invite you to please tell your students about this year’s KEMPA Journalism Summer Camp “Connections” held June 22-25 for storytellers of all abilities interested in myriad media.

Four days of hands-on workshops and running around a D-3 campus await your students. They’ll work with university professors, industry professionals and college media students to get educated and excited about opportunities in journalism. Plus students can compete for award certificates in the annual KEMPA Cup for each workshop they attend throughout the camp. What great resume builders?!

Nightly excursions feature trips to the campus arcade and bowling lanes, swimming pool, athletic facilities and movie theater. They’ll enjoy nights with new friends and camp counselors safely in the newly built dorm, or can come just for the daytime. A camp t-shirt, meals and fun swag are all included.

Journalism camp is again hosted on the beautiful University of Wisconsin-Whitewater campus this year with guests staying in the newly built Ma’iingan Residence Hall. UW-Whitewater is a large campus located in the southeastern rolling hills of Wisconsin about an hour or so between the Madison, Milwaukee and Chicago areas.

Registration closes Thursday, June 12. Cost is $615 dollars for overnight campers and $585 dollars for commuters. Attendees with advisers who are KEMPA members receive a $50 discount.
