­­­­­Seeking an Executive Director
The Kettle Moraine Press Association invites letters of application for the position of Executive Director.  Applicants should bring bold and imaginative leadership to strategically planning KEMPA’s future, look for opportunities to build upon our existing strengths, broaden our membership base and foster relationships with other scholastic press associations.  This is a paid, part-time position.

Job Description: KEMPA Executive Director
 
Administrative responsibilities

  • Attend all meetings of the KEMPA Board of Directors
  • Arrange logistics for all meetings of the Board of Directors
  • Act as liaison between KEMPA and the Continuing Education Dept. at UW-Whitewater
  • Work cooperatively with Board of Directors.
  • Assist and support the directors of events/programs:  Fall Conference, Winter Seminar, Summer Workshop, Individual Contests
  • Provide thank you letters, gifts, get wells, etc. at the direction of the board
  • Serve as liaison to committees, including, but not limited to
    • Awards committee
    • Scholarship committee
    • Silent Auction committee
  • Monitor financial activity
    • Bank & Investment accounts
    • Credit cards
  • File yearly IRS Form 980-N (e-Postcard)
  • File yearly Wisconsin Non-Stock Corporation Annual Report each December
  • Monitor and maintain IRS tax exempt status
  • Renew KEMPA’s membership in JEA each July

 Communication/PR responsibilities

  • Represent KEMPA at JEA scholastic press association roundtable at conventions (minimum one per year)
  • Act as liaison to regional scholastic press associations
  • Maintain contact with commercial press associations in Wisconsin and northern Illinois

 Program Development responsibilities

  • Work with the Board of Directors to actively recruit new schools, whenever possible through in-person visits
  • Make periodic visits to KEMPA member schools

Applicants should

  • Demonstrate good communication skills in speaking and writing
  • Be skilled in word processing and publication design programs
  • Have experience as a publication adviser
  • Be able to attend regional and national conferences and conventions.
