Recognizing the importance of the advancement of journalism in the urban environment, the Milwaukee Press Club Endowment’s High School Journalism Grant Program supports education and excellence in journalism and the media in Milwaukee County high schools.

Two annual $500 grants provide funding to programs at public or private high schools located in Milwaukee County.  The journalism programs should be aimed at educating students about journalism, providing hands-on experience, and encouraging students to pursue careers in journalism, communications or a related field. The grants can be applied to any element that will educate students about journalism, provide hands-on experience, and encourage students to pursue careers in journalism, communications or a related field.

This can include (not limited to):

  • Equipment (such as computers, cameras, software)
  • Training (such as journalism workshops, memberships, field trips)
  • Production needs (such as web hosting, paper, postage)

Student journalism organizations/clubs or academic classes should complete the grant application and submitted by the annual deadline. Download the application here.

Grant application deadline for 2017 is April 7, 2017.

In addition to the cash award, three students from each school and an adult advisor are invited to attend the Milwaukee Press Club Gridiron dinner at no charge.  For more information, contact Barbara Haig, [email protected].
