The First Amendment Matters PSA Contest

The+First+Amendment+Matters+PSA+Contest

As New Voices campaigns spread across the country, we want our students to be aware of their First Amendment rights. One of the ways to do that is to get them involved in doing something worthwhile that will sharpen their awareness and understanding of the issues.

Here’s a link to a very do-able contest for your students:  Create a 30-second public service announcement that addresses the topic of the First Amendment. https://www.schooljournalism.org/schooljournalism-org-first-amendment-psa-video-contest-2017/

Deadline is May 3.  The contest is sponsored by SchoolJournalism.org.

If you need resources to learn about First Amendment issues, go to the Student Press Law Center website,  http://www.splc.org  or the Newseum’s First Amendment Center site:  http://www.newseuminstitute.org/first-amendment-center/#&panel1-1

If your students do this, KEMPA would like to have a link to your entry so we can use it for our Wisconsin New Voices campaign. Send it to [email protected].
